Anyone know a website for this?

I know they have one because i've seen it (i guess i should have bookmarked it too).
It gives the various types of bios available and a description of what all the beeps mean during boot. My other pc running W2K loads up, and right before i get the password popup, the power cuts as if going into standby, screen blacks out and i get a Beep about once a second...
Any help would be appreciated!!!

Could be an overheat, could be unstable OC, could be any number of things ... and it doesn't help that you didn't list your motherboard make/model.

While his tone is off, he's right. Your manual should have that information.

i don't mean to be an asshole or anything but to me thats just like saying

"will one of you guys look up my motherboards manual online and read it for me?"

Crosstrack16 04-03-2003 11:47 AM

It sounds like a BIOS fan failure safty feature. Check to make sure that your BIOS is not trying to detect a CPU fan on one of the MB fan headers. If it does not detect a fan that has a high enough RPM, then it will shut down the machine about 10 seconds after you apply power to it.

At least thats what some ABIT and ASUS MB do.

he's right it's actually not in the manual, my apologies.

what kind of bios does it have?

airspirit 04-03-2003 05:26 PM

Shit, J is right! I get that same thing on all of my boards from fan failure! Check that by plugging a different fan into your CPU fan header.

The only issue with that, though, is that I get that at posting, not as it enters Windows.

Well the power is not being cut off as it wouldn't be beeping if that was the case. I had this very problem with WinblowsXp Pro and it turned out to be a bad vidcard setting. Try going in in safe mode.
