Radiator question
How do you tell how many "passes" a radiator has?
I hear people say they have four pass radiators with a level of smugness rarely attained by man. i feel like an idiot for asking this. It seems like it shoud be so obvious. Thanks, Whomp! |
So, ...
No Replies. was it really that stupid of a question? |
You ought to be able to tell, simply by observing very closely, your rad.
Got a pic? |
Crap ... I don't have anyplace to host a pic.
|
more 'passes' = greater head loss
their "smugness" = foolishness the number of passes refers to reversing direction |
Well, being a bear of very little brain, all it took was a minute or two to figure out my heater core is a 4 pass. I think I may have too much heater core for my pump, but we'll find out.
I'm waiting on some 1/2" hose barbs from McMaster, then its time to put the whole thing together. |
Hello!
I sent Your question to Hard Ware Labs and got this answer from someone called Willie: The terminology was derived from the number of turns the coolant would make inside the radiator. A single pass rad would simply have two single-cavity top and bottom tanks. While two pass radiators would have a single cavity bottom tank with a 2 cavity or dual upper tank (more reliable than single tank dual cavity) configuration. Hope it helps You. regards Mikael S. |
