Is it possible to.....REALLY important please read....

ok well.... i got this really inovative idea but.... one little down fall is fans are not ment to work submerged in water.... hehe ill explain later when i get to crunching on this project...

anyways i was wondering if it is possible to make the fan work underwater like a normal fan.... what would it take to do so? coat the pcb with dow conformal coating? or what? it needs to spin and run like a normal fan.....

hrm...nice....to bad im latheless =p
ill see about just coating it the best i can with dow coating..

Note that the impeller design for moving air, is different than a propeller, which is specifically made to move water.

...but don't let that deter you...

If I was you, I'd seriously trim the blades. Cut 1/3 of the width on the leading edge, and 1/3 off of the trailing edge. That should fix you right up. If you want to get fancy, give your propeller a nice curve, like a submarine prop.

What is this for? A model toy boat? Or maybe to induce turbulance in a wb?

I wonder if he isn't about to try cooling a rad it's self with water.

Electric trolling motor anyone? :D

hehe well, ok i have alot of parts i got awhile back i might as well use it for something crazy despite what ppl say...

basicly my idea is ot have copper tubing filled with water and soldered to a cold plate for which 2 85w peltiers will be frosting.. and hopefully the water in the copper tubing will freeze over
thus basicly having 'ice' in my system at all times and to act as a chiller for the main system loop...ya ya i know might as well just use a radiator and run the pelts on the cpu...

anyways ya the copper tubing will be put in the res. to chill the water... i was thinking since chilling somewhat still water is almost impossible.... (peltier radiator idea from overclockers.com) why not keep a fan in the res at the bottom to constantly keep the water flowing up and over the copper tubing so it is constantly being cooled till its sucked out and put into action on the war front with a AMD 1700+ JUIHB ;)

hey that sounds like a pretty good idea. You may need to insulate your tubing from the res to the processor if the chiller can drop the water temps below ambient. Let us know how this turns out!

How about a blender???

Tuff...awful loud though

If you setup the inlet and outlet for the pump right it'll curculate the water itself, without the need for a fan or anything else extra...

You might as well just have the cold plate in contact with the water, put an old SK6 on there for max cold surface area. Better yet just put the TEC's onto the CPU :D ...
