semi finished h20 case.

Sup fellas, I've been reading these forums for a LONG time and havent opened my big mouth much. Until now, for the past few weeks my obsession has been to water cool my old 900mhz tbird to keep up with all my friends w/ XP's @14-1800mhz. Through tedious reading and expert help It has become possible. I would be happy to answer any questions for watercooling beginners as it is MUCH easier than it looks. Special thanks to TechGuy for more help than he knows.

To begin. Space was a concern in my cramped Antec sx830 so i opted to put the equipment in an old atx case which once housed my firewall. This turned out to be a good move as the case panels have cutouts (yet to be finished) and neons. To ensure the Rad fitting well i cut the front bezel off of the case and flipped it upside down. I JB-Welded it back together and it fits like a charm.

Here you see how the reservoir is tied into the case and where the silicone tubing meets it. At the center of an old fan grill. This worked well as it secured the Tubing and Res well and provided an easy method of fastening for the waterfilled res which is a Dubro RC car gasoline tank, Bought from your local hobby store. You can also see how i power the 120mm panaflo L1a fan over the rad. Using the PSU trick this was easy. I soldered in some connections and made the psu available on/off via a switch w/ a led.

Dual Inline temperature probes made by T-Connectors, Compunurses, and a LOT of RTV Silicone.

Here is the pump mounted to the case, Grommets on both sides top/bottom as well as a cut up mousepad to eliminate as much vibration as possible. This runs remarkably quiet. Also, the temp of the conditioned water, immediatly out of the radiator. At 21.3 Im a happy camper.

I love where that 80mm fan grill is at the front, what about 5.25" bays though?

gizo 12-19-2001 04:44 PM

nice work.. from the pictures, it looks like your wc setup will barely fit in your case, let alone with your other hardware.

we need more pics!!! =)

nice looking setup!

Thanks for all the awesome feedback. Very proud to finally have something worth posting besides an opinion.

The front drive bays are where the screen is on the front bezel, i cut the metal part of the bezel off and welded it upside down so the radiator would fit well and have adequate airflow while remaining unobstructed.

I've just finished putting it all together, with lights, window, cable ties etc. Tell me what ya think.

Also, my water is runnin at 21.1c in this setup, can you guys compare idle temps with me? remember this isnt hooked up to a cpu yet.

mmmm...dark

I run about 0.5C over ambient with just the pump running for comparison. With the cpu on and idle I'm at 27C cpu (in socket thermistor) and 22.9C water with 19.8C ambient. I'm running deionised water + water wetter.

xoLiVeRx 12-25-2001 08:46 PM

what kind of radiator/fan combo you using, and correct me if im wrong, ambient is the temp with the cpu off? thx
