Do hose connecters restrict flow?

i was wandering if using t-valves and quik release connectors between two pieces restrict coolant flow.

T-Connectors will definately reduce flow...

quick connects with check valves have a significant pressure drop, depends on style/materials/size/money

I used to use Parker 416SS 1/2" double check disconnects but finally removed them

when you say check valves, do you mean they shutoff when you pull them out? (wondering if thats the proper name!)

brucoman 05-11-2003 07:11 PM

yeah, with check valves
it does make it very tidy when breaking connections to move system

Anything with a bend, or with a smaller inner diametre than the tube/hose will cause restriction,(or same diametre with a rougher wall surface if you want to get pinickity :p )...

I've noticed that plastic/PVC T's and Y's have an inner diametre that 'narrows down' like a funnel as it gets to the centre/joining of in/outlets, which makes them even more restrictive...
