Mounting WaterBlock, Wow.
Well this is the the second time I have pulled my watercooling system off the cpu to clean it. I need to find the right mixture of additives that still keep the tubes clean and clear. This past time I had white residue buildup from Purple Ice I believe, which was just its protective coating but I did not know it was going to fog my tubing so much.
Anyways.... When I remounted waterblock, i started up the cpu and WOW, my temps were like 4 degree cooler. When I mounted the block I could tell it was a smooth and tight mount. It just slid into place. Last time was not a perfect of a mount. So I see that mounting can affect your temps by like 4-6 or 8 degree worse case. Thats what Im seeing. Just wanted to share my experience. |
I ran into the same issue with my system with mounting too, when I first booted it up after getting everything installed one of my CPU's war running at 19C, the other was 38C, I took it off, remounted it, tried again, same thing, found out I cut my tube running from the 1st to 2nd CPU to long and when I put the side panel on it pushed it the wrong way causing the block to not sit properly.

Yes, in my waterblock testing I typically see around 1C variations between mounting sequences, but on the odd occasion something will go "wrong", and I'll see 4-5C higher than "usual" for that particular mount.
I take it that you're a little happier with your purchase now? ;) |
Yes Cather, thank you!
With the mount I have now, I can put cpu at any voltage just about and overclock all I want and only see about a 2 degree difference. GREAT. Never exceeding 100 degree Farn. Usually 98 degree farn. under load with room temp at 83 F. |
