intake question
 

ok, so i'm having a bit of trouble on the actual intake, not enough room to put a barb over the top. So i had a question for all. if i were to cut out an intake similar to this type of design (sorry for the image i did it in about 30 seconds) would i be losing anything or would this practice be ok?

that is basically a barrel-type 90 degree; the most restrictive of fittings. Why not use a sweep copper 90?

because where the fitting is going is a very very tight spot. if i do it this way and put a fitting parallel to the mb instead perpendicular. this saves me well over an inch and lets the wb fit. I know it's a bit restrictive, but if it's not really going to hurt anything, and it will actually allow the block to fit then that is what i'm most worried about.

Not sure you grasp what I am saying. Dont use THAT kind of 90; here is a friend's block that uses a difft type:

Well that is basically what i want to do but instead of having a top of the block then the barbs on top of it, just make what your friend has into the top of the block then put the barbs in the side. This is in a very space restrictive space that is why i kinda need to do this, the more room i can save the better.

USe that sort of turn though and not an abrupt 90 elbow like you drew.

If you plan to make a block like that, you might as well make a res: it'll be far less restrictive, and resolve the problem.

no, i think you guys have the wrong idea, this is not the base of the block, this would be the top of the block. I would be using something like a whitewater or other clone for the base then for space consumption reasons it would save me a lot of space to have the barbs come in from the side and route it over the block than have a top and a barb with a 90 deg angle on it. if i do the top of the block this way i figure i can save myself over an inch of space which is badly needed. anoter way to kinda describe how the top would look would be the following picture.

but instead of injecting at a 45 like swiftec has make it a real 90

As pHaestus pointed out, even in the article, using two 45 deg bends is a better solution, and would hopefully fit well within your restricted area.
