Mixing metals

Ok, everthing in my system so far is copper, brass, and a bit of JB Weld.

But I need to a hose clamp on my submerged pump.
The hose clamps are Wide-Band Self-Tightening Spring Hose Clamps, carbon steel with a corrosion-resistant, zinc-rich coating from McMaster.com. Is this ok? Would I be better off using plastic ones for this?

Ust try it! Nothing will happen to the blocks because they are copper. If something will happen then it will hapen to the clamp and the when you detect rust you can exchange it.

Since the clamp is for a submerged pump there will not be the kind of damage on the system if the hose loosens as it would be if the hose loosened from the CPU-block... I guess you can use a regular plasticstrip. The kind electricians use to clamp cables together.

The zinc will corrode.

You ought to consider a stainless steel clamp or, cheaper, a plastic clamp.

Then again, if the zinc corrodes, it's not going to cause a critical failure, but your water is going to turn into different colors...

You can get "marine grade" stainless steel hose clamps. They don't cost much and are made to withstand aggressive conditions. Can't go wrong there.

Why does it need a clamp if it's submerged?. It's not like it'll loose pumping pressure. I've not had a leak that squirts water out, all mine have sucked air in!...

If it ever came off my PC would over heat. And when I was playing around w/ it it came off and sprayed water out of the top of my reservoir...

If the hose comes off the pump in the res, then the water is just going to recirculate in the res and not push water through the system causing a overheated processor and whatever else it maybe cooling.
