Make your own Phase-Change cooler?
 

Any guides no how to make the compressor or any advice from yourself? Just seems like fun to make :shrug: .

youll wanna buy the compressor as it would be real difficult to make one, everything else can be home-made though!

Where would I buy a compressor and what else would I need to make?

look for one in a scrap yard, or they have good deals on condensor units on E-bay

Read it full through, it's quite well assembled and quite thorough. Read it now, look into getting the stuff, read it again to make sure you CAN, and want to do it. Get the stuff, read it again, and built it. Also I'm sure there's lots of other articles with specific info on smaller aspects. But like anything this takes enough determination/time/etc to actually do it, so be prepared.

Don't pay attention to the refrigerants part, most of the refrigerants listed in that article can not be used in an average system like he states.They must be used in cascade systems.

OK I read though the site and I have an idea of what I need to do, but only a few things worry me. What will I need? I can buy a mini-fridge or and use that as a compressor but what would I use for condensor and evaporater? Maybe I'm missing something. I also assume the metering device is the waterblock, is that correct? Thanks for all the help

Mini fridges generally do not have powerful enough compressors to do the job satisfactory.Refrigerator compressors are much better for this.
The condenser is whatever you chose, it could be a watercooled coil of copper, or a nice small tube-fin condenser.The metering device is an expansion valve or capillary.
If you want to make a waterchiller you only need a coil of copper pipe submerged into a insulated res.For direct die you can use a waterblock and braze the top on.

You will need to have a copper waterblock at least to braze the top and fitting on it.Some capillary.You will need all the tools too.Manifold(gauges), vacuum pump, torch, pipe flaring/swaging tools depending on if you use flares or not.
I suggest you do some more reading before starting.
