swifty 462+ with aero 7+ blower

How well do you think the blower on a aero 7 fan would work on a 462?

SparkedFire 06-21-2003 04:39 PM

tell me if i'm wrong, but i thought the aero 7+ was a poor performer in cooling. You could look around and find a blower that exactly fits your needs and size. Get a good blower and a raoistat so you can adjust the fan speed, or just let it run. Some have built in temp sensors.

The blower needs to be of a fair size, to work well. The Aero7+ blower, from what I've read, has been increased by 1 cm.

I just picked up a blower from an old Mercury Grand Marquis: ~6 inches in diameter ;)

That's all subjective :)

Given the low noise the airo makes and its price and features, I consider it to be a very good cooler indeed.

Doesn't the fan blow 20cfm at max speed? My original swifty 462 performed at its best with a 68cfm 80mm delta. When I put a 39cfm sunon on it the performance was poor. The swifty just begs for more air.

You have to look at the PQ curve of the fan to know the real performance of the fan. Granted, the blower on the aero isn't a good free flowing fan but with the restrictive nature of HSs, it performs well. Keep in mind there is no dead spot with a blower also.

Raising the fan on the swifty helps 3-4c (at least from my experience anyway)

80mm delta on top of an empty 80mm.

I have been wondering how the Aero 7+ would perform on different retail heatsinks. (swiftys, alphas, slks, ect) Is anyone willing to test one?

bigben2k 07-18-2003 04:06 PM

Why not take it to the next level?

Take a blower, tack it to the side panel, and duct it over the CPU. ;)

I wasn't thinking of doing this myself, I'm interested in the cooling performance of the Aero 7+ in comparison to higher flow axial fans.

I've installed a number of Aero7+ heatsinks and their performance is outstanding. I don't know what the complaints are ....

I guess I should add that the case fan arrangement for maximum performance is different from that of a standard HSF. When I turned the door fan from blowing in to out, I noticed about a 3C improvement. It takes a bit of finessing your fan arrangement to make it work well.

No complaints here, I just want to know how one of the Aero 7+ FANS would perform on the other HSFs.

I have the swifty 462+ and a Tornado 80mm. I can't stand the noise anymore and have to find a new solution. Together they don't cool all that great also. I idle pretty high, load max is about 42c decent oc.

What processor are you running at what speed and Vcore? What is your room temperature? How many case fans do you have and what type are they?
