White Water

Hello guys,

I've heard, that a new cooler will come out and it's better than the White Water. What's the name of it?

Until now, the best cooler is the White Water right?

bigben2k 07-02-2003 02:33 PM

It's called Cascade, also by the Little River block co.

You can find the details in the Extreme Cooling section of the OCAU forums: look for Cathar: he's the designer/maker.

coolpire.at 07-02-2003 02:38 PM

He is also the Designer of the White Water cooler, right?

bigben2k 07-02-2003 02:44 PM

Correct.

Solarian League 07-02-2003 03:45 PM

ive been talking to him about buying his block, anyway i asked him about my johnson pump which is

7gallon per min at 1.5 PSI anyway he said it had good flow but the pressure was poor that it was the lower bracket of pumps for his block.

so i'm looking for a better pump.

bigben2k 07-02-2003 04:01 PM

That would be a mistake.

The Johnson pump model CMP30 is actually more powerfull than the 1048 and 1250, by Eheim.

Maybe he thought it was the Johnson model# 10, and I'd agree, in that case.

Solarian League 07-02-2003 04:21 PM

allright so i would be better off sticking with the johnson pump which i'm probably going to buy from this site

johnson pump

is that the correct one i would think so.

bigben2k 07-02-2003 04:37 PM

Yep, that's the one!

Make sure you get the mounting details, from here:

Solarian League 07-02-2003 04:48 PM

goddamn forum crap.

sorry.

anyway so i connect the pump to a molex then connect it to the 12 v rail of my psu, and then have a few capicator connecting both side on the pump in serial to help smooth out the spikes.

anyway how do i determite if my 12v rail is seperate from the rest of the system other than opening up the PSU because on that thread they talked about make sure your rail isn't to the harddrive also.

I should state that all I knew about the pump was Solarian League's statement of "1.5PSI and 7gpm". I never knew the model.

The Eheim 1046 pushes around 1.7PSI, the Eheim 1048 pushes about 2.3PSI, and the Eheim 1250 almost 3PSI.

I was basing my response on that a pump equivalent to an Eheim 1046 is about as low of a pumping pressure that I would recommend otherwise it might be more prudent to consider something like the White Water, and a figure of 1.5PSI was quoted to me.

oops sorry my bad. well atleast we got that cleared up, anyway the johnson one that i'm geting it will work great on your block right.

bigben2k 07-02-2003 08:00 PM

Yeah, it will.

Max pressure: 5 psi: that's 11 1/2 feet, or 3.5 meters.
Max flow is 30 l/m, that's 7.9 gpm, or 474 gph.

That's even better than an Eheim 1060 (the BIG Boy!).

Cathar 07-02-2003 08:05 PM

Just ordered two of the pumps myself. Been reading through the pump thread that BB2K posted and all the excellent work done by Since87 about filtering the pump's power. When they get here I'll have to head off to the local elec shop and pick up the bits and pieces to fudge up a little line power filter for them. Got 3 PC's, and the other two are air-cooled, but wanted a decent 12V pump to drive them.

Gather the following:

The pump
A 0.1 microfarad film capacitor (AKA polyester capacitor)
A 1 amp diode (any voltage rating over 20V will do)
An inline fuse holder
A 3 amp fuse that fits the fuse holder
A male Molex connector.

1. Solder the following together:

the positive lead of the pump
one capacitor lead
the end of the diode with the stripe
one lead of a fuse holder

2. Solder the following together:

the negative lead of the pump
the other capacitor lead
the end of the diode without a stripe
a ground lead (black) of the Molex connector

3. Solder the +12V lead (yellow) of the molex connector to the other lead of the fuse holder.

4. Insulate everything.

5. Install a 3 Amp fuse in the fuse holder, and it's ready to go.

You probably have several groups of four wires coming out of the PSU and going to Molex connectors. Isolate one of these cables, and don't use any of the connections on it for anything other than the pump. (and fans or other insensitive hardware)

Solarian League 07-03-2003 02:10 AM

since87: cool thanks for that info, as soon as the pump gets here i'll swing around by the local hardware shop and see if they have what i need to wire up this thing.

that reminds me i'll need to make sure to pick up a molex connector thingy in my computer purchases for the pump.

Since87

In your instruction you left out the values for the cap and diode. Could you edit your post and add them in there?

Thanks
