Maybe Ben can use this to watercool the arse end of a CPU. If anything, it will be a godsend for those that are afraid of unlocking their chips. |
A few of the new (maybe most?) mobos unlock the CPU for you. My Abit KD7 and a few Epox boards unlock the cpu. No need for unlocking with them. But for the older boards it could be good. Says it goes up to 24X???
Anyway the price seems rather good? $39.98 Canadian. http://www.bytewizecomputers.com/products/7/9/104/3117 here is a close up pic: http://www.abgcomputers.nl/Upgradewa...0_MHz_Socket_A I don't see how this would do Ben any good. He needs a riser with a hollow middle. |
I think this would solve the +/- 12.5X problem. I can't use over 12.5X on my 8R*A+ boards with any of my 1700+ TBredBs or 2500+ Barton. My 2100+ TBB works, however. I'm getting ready to blast the last bridge on my barton with a 9V battery soon, however.
Edit: This would probably play havoc with standard heatsink clamps. Expect people to start associating this product with crushed cores very soon. |
24x? eek!
|
The only way this would work SAFELY is with a specially designed HSF with a proper clip or the 4 bolt system.

what about the temp probe on the mobo?
