CPU heatsink on northbridge

When I start watercooling my CPU I'll have a surplus heatsink /w fan (Volcano Cu6). I was thinking of mounting it on my northbridge. A couple of questions popped up:

How do I remove the old heatsink from the northbridge chip, it seems rather securely attached? I don't want to rip a chunk out of my board.
How do I attach my (bigger) CPU sink onto the NB chip? Besides gluing it, since I would like to change it for a waterblock if I ever get around to making one.
Would it make a difference?

Anything else I should be careful of?

You pinch the tabs ofdthe pin together at the back (being VERY careful there are traces on the mobo you don't want to scratch)... it should come off after a little coaxing.

See my 1U graphics card topic. I drilled two holes in a heatsink, got some 4/40 bolts at the hardware store, and bolted the sucker onto my graphics card (same hole set). Very simple.

If you pinch the clips and get them out but still it is stuck, try sticking it in your freezer for an hour. That'll make the thermal goo brittle and easy to break.
