Possible waterchiller idea?..

okay, first i know i should of probably put it in a more specific forum, but i wasnt sure which to put it in, and the phase cooling specific isnt very active... so here goes

Parents are getting me a AC window unit for my room, since it reaches upwards of 105+ in here, house ac unit doesnt blow enough air to cool my room enough...

i was thinkin bout getting some soft copper tubing, decaseing hte ac unit, wraping the tubing around the evaporator, and running it to the outside of hte ac unit, where i would plug nylon tubing into it and run it down a 5gal air tank as a resivoir...... that way i could cool my room, and the water maybe? yes...no?

Yeah, welcome to Texas... ;)

The tubing idea really isn't worth all the trouble. Your best bet, would be to run a bit of that cold air through your rad, and you can do that with a bit of ducting.

though about it..... but i really dont wanna have any ugly ducting..least the tubing would be small and unnoticable, tank could be put under desk... =\ dunno

Yeah, it would be quite a sight.

Maybe you could slip a heatercore in there, and run water tubing to the PC.

Sure...when I was in college I had an old dorm room with no A/C, but I had a sink. Window units were not allowed. I had an A/C repackaged as a coffee table and ran two small thermoplastic hoses to the sink....ran it two years.

If I were you I would try to hide a small Rad. inside the A/C and run two water lines to your rig.

and if you could get the thermostat sensor to respond to the heat of this added res. -you should be able to run. Else your temps are going to rollercoaster.
