Damn Mobo's Got no HOLES!!!
i bought a sexy red msi kt4 ultra for my xp 2200 but the blasted thing has no holes to mount the water cooling im am "going to make" (buy make same thing). if anyone has any ideas plz email to siavash_s_S@hotmail.com or post here
also this is a bit of a radom question, but whats with all of xp 1700 everyone has? |
get a block that mounts with clips.
1700's very overclockable. that is all. |
will the mobo even support a handfull of polycarbonate and Cu if its clip on?
also if you can send me a noobs tutorial of overclocking that teaches everything explicitly thnx |

depending on ure mobo, u can jbweld bolts to the mobo so u can use thru hole coolers... |
im thinking of glueing on nylon or polycarbonate bolt holders something like these below
http://http://members.optusnet.com.a...est/thing1.jpg http://http://members.optusnet.com.a...est/thing2.jpg but i dont know what glue to use, the best i have is araldite super strength 2 pack resin, but i dont know if it will damage my mobo. if it isnt safe to use, what is? |
srry pic links were wrong thses are the 2 pics :

did i not say jbweld....araldite will most likely get far too hot and burn through the motherboard.....
|
rite i thought u made a typo (never heard of jbweld) i dont understand what u mean by araldite getting to hot, do you mean from its own curing or the cpu?? also will a msi kt4 handle the jbweld stuff?
|
araldite is a true epoxy, meaning it produces loads of heat during the curing process. Enough to heat up a room when large amounts are curing in a small area. Jbweld isnt like that, it barely makes any heat, yet cures amazingly strong. Im guessing ure UK based b/c u can get it anywhere it seems in the US
|
australia actaully

jbweld is the shizit

araldite im using is 3 day curing, doesnt get any waremer thena squirel fart (congrats to whoever made that up)... only problem i c with it now is it may react with board material, but i doubt that

siavash_s_s I have a lug mount centre barb 3lug mounting unit i got off a forum member on OCAU. i would show it to you but i have no idea where you are in au and the other thing is, i dont have a digi cam :P

Christ, just get a block that will work with a socket clip. Epoxing shit to mount blocks on a mobo is not wise. If you tighten the nut to tight you will rip away part of the PCB the bolt is epoxied to and all the traces in it killing your board. Tops of PCB's are NOT meant to handle the load it takes to properly mount a CPU block. That's why the manufactures go all the way through the board! But it's your board, if you **** it up you can get a board with holes. I guess the flashy red blinded all aspects of practicality eh?
MadDogMe hit it pretty good. check out www.overclockers.com forums. |
take the mobo back and say it doesnt perform how you like and get a diff board, they cant refuse you service.

theres an article on overclockers.com about coverting a socket 370 board to use socket A mounting holes, hence where I got the idea from. Anyhow, show us pics when its done!:D

loob3r; "I demand satisfaction!" lol i dont want to take it back its a sexy ass mobo
anyway i am thinking this whole "stick block on" idea is wearing a bit thin.... the clips will unfortunatly have to do, buuut ill go a bit further and try to stick a match stick on and see what happens... also i live in sydney loob3r, but im an ethnic so u might want to watch out lol :: famous quote by old english teacher "you stoopid ethnic" |
