Any hope of a GeForce FX WC setup?

I have been desperatly looking, and i cant find anything that will work. None of the currect WBs will work, since they are all blocked by the ramsinks.

SO, will there be any WBs coming out that GFFX users can use?

the maze 4 will clear ramsinks on the FX cards acording to danger den's site.

But it says that you may have to remove the original ramsinks, which i dont want to do...

can always do a mesurement, here's the info they had posted on their new page about the clearance.

another psoibility is on the peltier version they stated it can be used with or or without a peltier, not sure how much of a perfomance hit you would take running it without the peltier but that would add .300" to the 7/16" height, though I don't know if without a peltier they mean removing the cold plate entirely or not.

I am currently using Maze4 GPU on my FX5900 Ultra. The mounting hole fits perfectly so the mounting studs will go through the big RAM sink without problems.

The only problem I can think of is that the mounting stud is very long so if you have mobo with big passive NB heatsink such as Asus P4C800 then you can't use it since the stud will hit it. I am using Abit IC7-G which has very low, active NB cooling so I am okay.

You could always dremel the bolt to make it fit w/ a larger NM heatsink.:rolleyes:

The problem is that you have to cut A LOT to fit in. For my case, I will have to cut the bolt just barely long enough to have the spring and the nut. Sorry, after I take a closer look, I think I will have to forego the spring altogether.

To mount the M4, did you have to remove the stock ramsinks at all????

Nope, no need to remove the RAM sink. The mounting holes on Maze4 GPU fits and are aligned perfectly with the 2 holes on the RAM sink where the original GPU sink are mounted.

Though, i may have a problem with the abit board (i have one with the new larger HSF on the northbridge).

So, i just take the old HSF off, and the bolts go throught the old spring mounts? sweeet:cool:

And for what it is worth, Maze4 GPU works very well from my limited experience. I live in Hong Kong where the temperature is summer is around 33C and combined with the humidity, the real temperature can reach 37C during the day. With the original heatsink, idle temperature hits 45 - 49C. With Maze4, it is only about 37-39C.

With the Air Condition ON, the temp can even hit as low as 30C.

Anything i should know about the install and such? Like, the original HSF being epoxied on or something?

Removing the GPU sink itself is very easy but you probably have to remove the RAM sink temporarily. But, the thermal paste on the GPU itself is really pain in the neck to remove. It is very sticky!! I tried different stuffs from alcohol to nail paint remover. The later works much better. But you have to have a lot of patience, that's all.

FYI, I am waiting for the new DangerDen's NB block. Hope it will help cooling the NB much better than the puny Abit's cooling.

Did you already order the block (since they are now available...)?

It was not available the last time I visited DD's site. But, thanks for your info, I just placed an order couple hours ago. Now, it's gonna be couple days of waiting before it arrives here.

Yeah, i just recently ordered my Maze4 too. Problem is, it looks like the bolt closest to the motherboard will have to be cut, since it is way too long and will interefer with my NB HSF (unless i get the NB WB as well..)..
