Roscal's getting closer

A test would be nice :)

I don't believe that any performance numbers have ever been posted. It's really nice work though, and the molding process gives this block a pretty unique look, which is great.

(Vive la France!)

Thx guys :) .

After a lot of private problems for my colleague Zytrahus :( the block is almost ready (start in november/december 2002 I believe). We wanted to try foundry to do a different project than others people with milling machine (too easy), to learn new things (injection mold and wax mold)...

There were a lot of problems with copper foundry. There were 3 different "people who do copper casting" (I don't know the word for "mouliste") because they were too sure of their experience and say 'Yes, yes I can do it. No problem!" but they don't be able to produce a good primary product (>90% bad blocks) so a big lost of time with them :( . Finally we found a better firm which give us satisfaction after several months of inactivity...

A good advice for you, keep out of copper casting with "thin design" it's really really hard to make it. People with good experience of "wax mold" are very very rare  . Bigger design is not a problem at all. Copper is a sh*t to cast, to mill.. :D

It will be a nice block from Zytrahus style but not performing as well as a Cascade, not the same flow technics and not designed for that... ZytraBlock2 reloaded (:D) will beat it :p (without foundry this time lol )

Make a block for people is an interesting project but there are a lot of constraints behind that, Cathar know them :D

:)

Hello,
A Zytra 2, very good news ;)

Roscal 08-21-2003 02:10 PM

LoL Yohann qu'est ce que tu fous lÃ*? Tu cherches des news? :dome:

Yohann is a newser from nokytech.net :D

yohann 08-21-2003 02:46 PM

Le monde est petit, non ? ;)

A little of french words on an american forum :D

yohann 08-21-2003 03:26 PM

Ben, tu sais que mon job est de rendre public tous les petits secrets ;)
Zytra 2 Powaaaa
Sorry for the french; the next time, i will make a big effort. ;)

bigben2k 08-21-2003 04:46 PM

Ah non! ne me dis pas que tu vas nous garder en suspense! Details! Details!

Blackeagle 08-21-2003 04:52 PM

As for the 3" tubing you asked about some posts back.

I don't know if a american firm will interest you but this company can supply 3" acrylic with 1/4" (6mm) wall thickness.

www.mcmasters.com

Just look under plastics, they have many types and sizes offered.

I've order stuff twice from them & they are VERY fast in shipping to you. 2 day delivery the first time and this last time 1 day.

I'm impressed

ChrioN 08-25-2003 10:25 AM

dis I likealot :D

But beware of the oxygen that will be trapped in the casted blocks...

yup, gotta use an inert gas 'blanket'; rather difficult actually

Roscal 08-25-2003 10:46 AM

Mold is under partial vacuum, there's a powerful air pump to suck out air during copper flow.

BillA 08-25-2003 11:01 AM

no Roscal, thats not the problem
molten copper absorbes oxygen unless kept under a flux or gas cover
- so then pouring it becomes rather tricky

Les, help me out here - I'm already over my head

Roscal 08-25-2003 11:16 AM

Yep I know that but here we don't have a neutral gaz cover, it's not adapted here...

nicodache 08-26-2003 12:34 PM
