A bit of market inquisition.

Although I know that most people here build there own blocks, I have some questions about who would buy a waterblock designed for peltier cooling that performed in the upper midrange and cost $10-$20 depending on specifications. Do you think there is alot of market for this? On IHS chips this might perform fairly well without a peltier also. The block will most likely be visually appealing too. Construction options would include all aluminum, aluminum with acrylic/polycarb tops, all copper, copper with aluminum tops(sealed in someway, although brass barbs would corrode into it regardless of what is done), or a copper with acrylic/polycarb top. If any of the moderators have a problem with this thread just delete and let me know plz. Thnx.

I suppose that one could find an Alu radiator to go with it.

I'm already set, but otherwise, I'd certainly consider it.

can't be done in my country.. the price for material and machining time would be much greater. I can't speak for China...

Jewfro 10-06-2003 09:08 PM

I would definitely buy one for $20. Not much more though, already got a WW.

winewood 10-06-2003 09:26 PM

your past purchases really don't match your current banter.. lol

Can you get a block for $10- $20 maybe on ebay. Or do you mean your cost for resale – or your selling price. Sorry if I am misunderstanding you. Once in a while web sites give blocks away for promotion then you can get them for free.

hydrogen18 10-07-2003 06:55 PM

I was talking about making and selling them outright.

winewood: That pointed at me?

bigben2k: heatercores are such good performers and so cheap it is hard to beat them, and aluminum radiators seem to be in a considerable less abundance, I suppose I could MIG weld my own, but I wont be getting training in the MIG proccess for about a year, and I doubt any second year students want to make free radiators for me.

hydrogen.. no. I was talking to Jewfro who had just paid a fortune for the ww but wouldnt pay over $20?

Jewfro 10-07-2003 08:11 PM

Well I bought the WW, so I wouldn't really be inclined to spend a lot on a TEC block because one then has to buy a cold plate, peltier, power supply, insulation, etc etc.

The WW wasn't really a fortune, esp. for the (then best) second best block on the market.

hydrogen18 10-07-2003 08:12 PM

cold plate would be included with the block.

These forums aren't the best way to break it to you that you cannot..... Can not build a TEC block worth anything that includes a TEC plate for $20. You need to go to a metal shop for them to tell you that. :D
