Gasket Questions
Sorry if these questions seem minute or obvious, I just want to make sure....
I'm designing a waterblock, but I have a few questions on the gasket. What size gaskets are common? Also, where is a good place to get gaskets? When milling the top half and bottom half, are each of the pieces milled out with half a circle? Many thanks. |
If you mean gasket material, I usually use some kind of silicone sealant. If you mean "O-Ring" then I believe that the common channel for that is square and you only mill it in one half of the block... there is a formula for figuring all that out somewhere on the forum, I forget where.

There are some premade gaskets out there. You could find one close to your needs and design around it. Or better yet, use an O-ring as timelord suggested. I have seen some rubber mats for sale, however they are like 3 bucks a small 6X6 sheet. Not very practical.

You can get deferent types of gasket material at any good auto store ..Thats the rout i would go ...so much easier than milling out a channel for a O ring and as long as your mating surfaces are flat should seal up just as good if not beter :)

be traditional and use a leather gasket -- its the best!
