Mb fan control & security

A lot of motherboards nowadays have the ability to have the fan headers controlled in software. I like this in general, but what happens when someone comes along and releases a virus that messes with them? There's no security at all in accessing that function. I can't think of too many other ways a virus could actually do physical damage to the pc. Now you and I aren't going to get burned by this, but people in general are stupid. And this is the sort of thing that I imagine could be really difficult for the average person to figure out the real cause of their problems.

Since different boards use different methods of manipulating the speed, I wouldn't be too worried about it. It isn't high profile enough for many people to bother with trying to fuxor you over, especially when there are easier targets in abundance.

All too true.
Fan controls are completely unstandardized. Besides, WTF would you want to crash someone's machine for? It's better to use it as a remote platform, or failing that, pull all of their personal info off of it. By the way, I like your signature, Airspirits. It's too bad it doesn't really work on women. They cannot understand Bash.
