Aerocool Deep Impact DP 101/102 converting to a WB
 

hi there!

long-time lurker, first-time poster here :-)

at first, excuse my english because it isn't my mothertongue...

since the beginning of watercooling (remember those k6-2 selfbuild WBs?) i wanted a watercooled system...
but i never had the money/time to build one.


since now...
i have the money for a completly new system (and more) and the time (school autumn vacations).


i always wanted to build the blocks etc. by myself, until i found those delicious coolers..

i know, it is a bit big... but bigger is better, isn't it? ;-)

i think, i'll use the DP101 because i could build the plexi-surrounding easier...

what do you think?
could i use 5/6 plexi-pieces (/squares) to build the surrounding?
or should i use the dp102 and search for a 70mm diameter plexitube? (how could i realise the inlet with gap and outlet?)
can i optimise that gap at the inlet (pic attached)?

the only thing that concerns me is that the inlet is at the top, so the cool water doesn't arrive at the bottom, near the core first...

but on the other side...
this "coppertube" is a semiconductor.
it's similar to a heatpipe but instead filled with a fluid, it's filled with a solid material-mix (don't know how to explain that correctly..)

so it doesn't really matter where the water arrives first...

It might be best to start with a base that doesn't include a heatpipe.

the "baseplate" is detachable...

i'll unscrew that and cut a new one, because i don't want to use those 3-nose mounting.

i want to use the 4 holes in the mb and i need a bit more space to screw the plexi-surrounding on the baseplate.

Then you're all set: go to it!
