Hydor L30--- enough for this setup???
1 Attachment(s)
Cascade, D-Tek ProCore, Maze 4 GPU block, about 3.5ft of tubing. Im considering upgrading to a heatercore that is actually about twice the size of the ProCore, so take that into consideration for the flow restriction. The L30 has a decent unrestricted flow rating, but once you start adding head, its very weak. See the chart below. From everything Ive been told, the Cascade loves very high flow.
-Will the Hydor be sufficient or would I see added benefit from going to a larger pump? -If I should get a new pump, would the eheim 1260 (600gph) or an Iwaki be suitable, or is that too much power for this system? -Any recommendations for a pump? |
any thoughts on this?

I have heard that the cascade really benifts from a lot of flow. I don't know what the impact or head loss on that block is. Try asking Cathar. If your not overclocking, im sure it would be fine.
Is this on a p4 or amd? |
The reason Im watercooling is to overclock better, and Im using this block on my intel rig.
Cathar, what pump would you recommend? |
The Cascade works well with high or low flow, comparatively speaking. What this means is that as you drop the flow rate off, it isn't like falling off a cliff in terms of performance unlike certain designs. Even just 15gph of real flow rate will yield very good performance.
The L30 will work just fine for your planned setup. Your real flow rate will probably be around the 5.5-6LPM mark (uh, 80-90gph) which is a very nice flow rate. Using a much stronger pump will gain you a little bit (maybe 1C or so at the block), but at the expense of your radiators having to deal with the extra pump heat and the water getting warmer as a result. |
thank you Cathar, Ill hold onto this pump then. I have your block sitting here right now, awaiting the Intel mounting kit from a forum member. The thing is a work of art man, keep up the good work.
