iwaki MD 15R vs eheim 1250
ok, flow wise we all know which one is the winner but what about the noise. which on is louder?
|
I've never heard an Eheim, but I have an Iwaki MD20RT. (next size up) During some block testing, I had it sitting loose on a concrete pool apron, and could barely hear it from 2-3 feet away (the wind in the trees was louder, not to mention the tree rats...) I am sure that once one got it properly mounted inside a reasonably well damped case it would be essentially inaudible...
I've heard similiar reports about Eheims, so I would assume that there is probably not a significant noise difference between them. Gooserider |
The only way I have ever mounted a pump (eheim 1048, 1250 Iwaki MD-15R) was with neoprene (mousepad material) between the pump and the case. They have all either been bolted or ziptied tight to the side or the floor of the case. If you do it this way, there is a negligable (sp?) difference in which is louder.

thanks for the info guys
well, i couldn't find the MD 15R at a good price so i'll be getting the mcp600 in two months or so, for now i'll try a MD 10R which i got a decent price. |

Also watch out for MD xx models vs. WMD xx models - MD is the desirable Japanese motor, WMD is the undesirable US made motor.
