To make the best Water block

hi ya,

What would you need to make a water block the unsurpassed (oooo big words:evilaugh: ) e.g. Pin style etc.

Im sure alot of people are going to say you need an jet-impingement or something of that nature in it.

Thanks

If I knew the answer to that question I would give up water block design all together. There is so much BS running around the tech sites lately it is hard to say what works and what doesn't and what path to take to develop a better block.

I agree with ya Jaydee. Also another thing, If someone had the best waterblock design, do you think they would just give it away when they could make some money off of it instead?

For me, I'd need either an EDM or a stereolithographic machine, a CNC mill, and a 3/64" mill bit.

Oh! I already have access to all of those. ;)

[Bonus Hint: The Cascade does not make use of either an EDM or SLM, nor 3/64" mill bits]

mega microfin white water  . could you have a flat piece of copper plate and skiv fins from it and then machine them down abit and put acrlyic over the top? that would make fins as fine as any slk wouldnt it?

Hmm, the sls (slm) whatever you want to call it is fairly coarse and rubbish tbh, very weak and hydroscopic. What could you want with that, im intrigued. ;)

Hmmm, one of the SLM's here in Melbourne has a resolution of 0.05mm. Guess it depends on what one's definition of "coarse" is.

Anyway, SLM was only a backup option. EDM is the first choice that will get used, and SLM only if the EDM fails to deliver (which it shouldn't).

Sounds like something new from Cathar coming....

Well, yes and no. Concept only. Unlikely it could ever be made with more conventional means which ultimately makes it little more than a curiosity except to explore limits. Not something that'll ever be made in more than single digit quantities.

A new advancement in CPU design, or a new approach for a GPU?

Will be interesting no matter which. I've a shotgun with some recoil reducing slits cut into the barrel making use of EDM. It did a nice job to.

I was talking surface finish as opposed to 'development size' (not sure what to call it, the smallest feature you can make) But the surface finish usually isnt impressive, and the parts are extrodinarly weak and prone to breaking.

EDM is a nice process, reasonably cheap too.
