tim-may's back

havent cruised this board in a loonng time, thought id stop by and say hi.:D no more posts counts it looks like...good stuff. not much has changed on my main system, only upgrade being a 9500 128mb modded to a 9700 and overclocked close to 9800 stock speeds with the omega drivers. scoring close to 5500 in 3dmark03.

couple other projects im working on:
-1U rackmounting a bunch of comps including 2 SBC boards similar to these. not too powerful of systems, but plenty good for a linux router, etc. also with one of those SBC's, i have a CompactFlash to IDE adapter so i can boot off CF cards. not the fastest thing in the world, but pretty cool stuff. currently booting WIN98micro off it, gonna put some sorta linux on it soon. for power supplies, im looking into using some 75watt psu's from some dead mac LC I's II's and III's. dimensions are approx 1" tall by 2.5" wide by 6" long for powering those boards. they take barely any power to run.

-got a backup system going (xp1600 @1.8ghz, kt333 board, win2k, chinsy ass 12meg intel vid card, and a 2gb drive that sounds like some high speed morse code when it grinds away at something.:D) not a bad comp, plenty good at everything i usually do like web browsing and stuff. its holding me over until the wd drive i rma'd gets installed and winxp pro back on it.

-got the radeon stock heatsink off at the moment to put on some custom cut ramsinks and the zalman heatpipe i took off the ti4200 in my sig. picked up some thermal epoxy from mcmaster thats damn near what as3 specs are, but in epoxy form :D. hoping to break at least 6k in 3dmark03. might need to find/do some vmods to the card tho.

-also trying to see if i can rack an old compaq and possibly 3 other systems. probly not since i doubt i can find some slim psu's powerful enough to run those boards)

-looking into getting a 1U UPS, 1U power conditioner (some of the Furman models), making some adapters to rackmount my cisco switch in a 19" rack, and finally, making some 1U cases out of aluminum:D
