#Rotor-type Top Plate
Hey guys I was wondering why the top plate of a #rotor block has to have "dimpled". And why the dimples have to be aligned with the holes on the baseplate...
Wouldn't it be better if the "dimples" were aligned DIRECTLY ABOVE the PINS such that water can still flow OVER the pins and provide a bit more cooling? What do you think? |
The top plate dimples only purpose is to keep up the flow rate from what I can tell. The top does near 0 cooling. If the heat is getting that high you need to refigure yout desgin.
You can just use thicker base material and make the holes deeper to avoid the top peice. Lot easier to do the drilling once. :D |

Did You cut the channels with a mill? They don´t look very Dremel-cut to me. Have You tested it against the KingPin? regards Mikael S. |

Also I think the reason the top is dimpled is just because 1/4" copper bar stock can be a lot easier to get ahold of (I've found that to be true). And if you don't have 1/2" stock you can't go very deep. If you misaligned all the pins, cold water would be too temped to venture into the non cooling zone in the top far too often. |
