Eheim 1046/1048/1060
hello, I am looking at eheim pumps for my replacement due to their low noise and temp level. What size hoses get connected to these? I am running a 3/8" system right now. Is one of these any better or worse fot me to use? I don't really want to get the 1060 because it's kind of expensive. As compared to this crappy *ss rio180 I have in this system now will I see an improvement? And is the 1046 enough? And, will I need any adapters or anything like that to use any of these pumps with my system?
Thanks, --MAtt |
no one?

I'm using an Eheim 1048 with DangerDen's stuff. Works great without adapters. With silicon tubing you will have no problem connecting the Eheim to your system. It might be a little tight with PVC tubing but that is a good thing on one hand, I've tried that too and it works well.

Most powerful eheims got 1/2" inlets or bigger. Generally you can easily swap those inlets for other size than original one, kits are supplied by Eheim. But generally no less than 1/2".

ok, I wanna get a 1048. It has 1/2" inlet and outlet. How do I get my 3/8" system to work with it? Or, where can I get new inlet and outlets?

or can I cram my 3/8" black rubber hose over the 1/2" barbs?

hmmmmm?

The inlet and outlet nozzles are screw fit so you should be able to fit new 3/8" fittings. As for cramming your hose over... you might be able to with some hot water and sweat but no bets on that

Better go to your favorite aquarium shop and ask for 1/2 to 3/8 straight converters.
Or try those fabulous quick inserts from www.liquidcool.org. There are 3/8-1/2 converters as well. |
