My RCC250 project (Radeon Copper Cooler) - 56k warning
 

Hello guys and girls :p

You probably already know form the title what RCC means. It is Radeon Copper Cooler that *I* made ;) . The number beside it is the weight of the heatsink in gramms.

Here is the whole procedure of making the heatsink.

It all started with a piece of copper, 20mm thick.

I had to trimm down the big piece to dimensions that I wanted. The piece of copper on this picture below weights about 700g.

Then I began to saw the grooves along in the copper.

After the grooves along were done, I had to make the same grooves transversal that I got really fine fins.

Here is the finished heatsink. I only had to polish the bottom :drool:

The bottom of the heatsink is 4mm thick so that the heat from the core can freely distribute to the whole surface of the heatsink.

Yes, it can be done and it is took me abou 4-5 hours to do this. But it was worth. :cool:

do you have any pics of it mounted?

Not yet... Currently my Radeon is cooled with water and this heatsink is made for a friend. So when he mounts it I will bring you the pictures.

itd be cool to mount it like at an angle, kinda like the nForce chipsets are mounted.

How many cans of Coke did you pound back to keep some energy in your arms :D

I would have made it on a slotting machine personally. Probably a lot easier on the arms :D Or maybe a dremel or something penumatic that would work

Well I woul do it on some machine also... but.... the problem is that i don't have any :shrug:
