Some Pics of my new setup

ok, after lots of setbacks, i finally completed my setup.

a nice touch, its that the complete system can be removed without draining the WC.

im using a Shurflo Piranha 500 pump (500 gph), that runs on 12v DC. the heatcore its from an opel corsa. the block its a nice rotor block, with 4.5mm wide 10mm deep holes, with 3/4" hoses. the tank its made with 1cm thick acrylic and it has a 2 liter capacity. the hole system sucks 3 liters of distilled water. i used a radiator aditive called "bardhal" (similar to water wetter and such stuff).

im using 2 Panaflo 12cm H1A fans in a pull push setup, but i havent finished the shroud yet.

here some pics during the leak test.

:(

at least tell me its a big peace of crap, that would at least be something.

That thing looks beastly :D

I love the thickness of the plexi. Tough stuff.

Very solid looking res:) Did you use some kind of solvent glue to hold it together?

Having all the bits like that at the top seems quite sound. The flow resistance should be pretty low, and you might also see some useful thermosyphon effect if ever something happens to the pump. In fact, if I were you I'd be quite tempted to experiment and see how well it does without the pump:D

Looking nice!
Your only problem might be that with a big pump, the heat of it goes into your cooling loop.
What's its wattage?

But I guess the Opel rad should be able to take the extra load.

Your temps will be better if you push fresh ambient air into your case, sucking it out will give you the higer case temp, thus higer water temps.

I must say, I love your res.. Looking Great!

lolito, the res is "glued" with cloroform

i will test what happens if the pump shuts down, i prefer to know how does the system react with me watching it :)

fhorst, dont know the wattage, but i know it sucks 2a from the 12v line.

i cant push hot air into the case, as im still using HSF for my GPU, NB and SB. i had to take out the GPU block because it isnt compatible with this setup, yet.

anyway, im putting lots of cold air into the case with 2 12cm fans, so that shouldnt be a problem.

2 amp from 12 volts is 24 watts. For future refrence, Power = Voltage x Current. Always useful to know when u dont have the full specs of some electrical equipment!

oh thanks pears

24w is too much?

-J- 01-29-2004 09:22 PM

well, here some performance numbers :)

http://members.lycos.co.uk/arkanhell/sorce/Load%20jpg

the vcore was at 1.85vcore although the reading is incorrect.
