FS: New #2-342, GeForce3 w/volt-mod, and DigiDoc5+

Visiontek GeForce3 classic w/volt-mod - This card can do 235/515 without the volt-mod. I've put together an optional volt-mod that is composed of SMD grabbers (5 total) and three trimmers. It just clips on and off. With the volt-mod, which I only used once, I've been able to bench 3DMark01 successfully at 260/530. The Crystal Orb that I was using with it started getting really noisy, so I reattached the stock cooler. I'll ship with the Crystal Orb for $3 extra if you want it. $50 + shipping

DigitalDoc5+ (black) - This is brand new in its original package. Everything is included. $35 + shipping

2x120mm fan Heater Core (Fedco #2-342) - This single pass core is possibly the best heater core for watercooling available. It's been tested by Bill Adams and shown to outperform most everything out there. I got this brand new from AutoZone and have not modified it. $20 + shipping

E-mail me, let me know what you want, include your zip code, and I'll give you a quote on shipping costs. E-mail if interested to andrew_taki[AT]sbcglobal[DOT]net. Please do not PM.

Will you ship to Canada?

AngryAlpaca 02-29-2004 10:33 AM

I'm with stupid! When was it tested by BillA? Where can I see this test? I am very interested in this test.

FishaOfMen 02-29-2004 04:33 PM

MadHacker,

Sure I'll ship to Canada. It'll be more expensive, but not a problem here. We might want to do Airmail instead of International Priority to save $$$. E-mail me if you have any other questions.

Alpaca,

Here's the test. See down a couple posts for the good stuff. In the charts, it's labeled as Craig's one-pass. In the picture of the various cores, mine's the one on the bottom right. Mine doesn't have the tubes cut off like that one, but I can do it for free. It'd probably mean for less shipping costs too.

AngryAlpaca 02-29-2004 09:07 PM

I can only find heat dissipation testing for the Chevette... I can also find information on the pressure drop of the 2-342, but that's not quite what I'm looking for...

FishaOfMen 02-29-2004 09:38 PM

Alpaca,

You're right. BillA didn't do heat dissapation testing on the 2-342. It seems to be the heater core of choice amongst the hardcore, however, because of its significant surface area, ability to mount two 120's, and the small pressure drop (which will affect heat dissapation). I don't think there's a better core out there, especially for those who hope to get everything in their case.

Fisha, are you checking your email? I sent you a message and haven't heard back yet. It hasn't bounced either :)

Gooserider 03-10-2004 04:03 PM

AA- BillA's testing was limited, and he only did heat dissipation on a few rads, my understanding was that he felt the results would be similar for other rads of the same general design - IOW, the chevette #'s would be good for any automotive HC design.

The big advantage of a single pass core like the 2-342 is that it has approx 1/4 the flow resistance (head pressure drop) that a similarly sized double pass core has. This makes sense if you think about it. In an SP core, all the tubes flow in parallel for just the length of the rad, while a DP core uses just 1/2 the tubes to flow each way. Thus the SP core in effect has twice the effective tube cross section, and 1/2 the length of the DP core, plus it gets rid of the two transitions from the far end tank of a DP core. Bottom line is that an SP core will give more flow volume in any given setup than a DP core, and give more pressure drop across the WB's where it will do the most good.

I once went through the FedCo catalog from LeakyCar.com, and it appears that there are only about 23 SP rads in the book, so the selection is small. There are a few odd sizes, but about 1/2 are approx the size of the 2-342, and it is the only one with the I/O's on the face, the others have the I/O's coming out either the ends or the sides of the tanks which would make them more awkward to mount for most apps.

you still have the heater core???

FishaOfMen 03-13-2004 10:37 PM

Hey all, sorry I've been gone so long. I've had a nightmarish last couple weeks with grad school applications due.

krazy,
Sorry, but I've realized that I can't sell the tubing.

Gooserider,
Thanks for the info!

Bertz,
Still got it. Send me some e-mail if interested.

YGEM about Heatercore

kaotic504 03-17-2004 06:49 AM

i'll buy the heatercore if there's no bent fins or anything.

FishaOfMen 03-20-2004 12:59 AM

RedPhoenix decided he didn't want the core. kaotic504 has dibs for the moment. The core is brand new. However, there are two of the zigzagging fins that have very minimal bends. They aren't pushed up or down and are perfectly passable for a new heater core.

FishaOfMen 03-22-2004 12:46 AM

Haven't heard a response from kaotic. This heater core is not spoken for yet!

gruntledweasel 03-22-2004 03:05 AM

I'm interested. Email sent.

hadrian 04-21-2004 06:41 PM

I'm interested in the Heatercore. What are the dimensions? What did this thing cost originally at the autoparts store? That link doesn't seem to be working.

Also, this is my first post over here at ProCooling, you guys are a happening bunch of people.

Blackeagle 05-01-2004 10:29 PM

Is this a all copper core, or brass?

If all copper (I've seen a 2-342 all copper, so they do exist), I will buy it, just send me a PM/e-mail.

The items have been sold. I bought the heatercore and graphics card.

And let me add that it was a pleasure dealing with this guy.
