Hi,
We have tutorials on our website.. We're still working on them but there is still a lot of information there. We can also answer any questions you may have. We have simplified the peltier installation process by powering the device from a standard ATX power supply. An Enermax ATX PSU is capable of powering both the TEC and the computer components. Alternatively a second ATX PSU may be used to power the TECs alone. In this case an ATX starter cable is added which ensures the second power supply (and TEC) is powered only when the computer is switched-on. Check-out the tutorials at: www.icetec-uk.com Raf Baker. |

i was thinking about gettin this PSU.. http://www.excaliberpc.com/product_i...oducts_id=1998 i wanna run 2 pelts.. one for CPU and GPU... what 2 pelts you think i shoud use?? prolly going to go with the 2.4c or 3.0c CPU and 9800 pro for the video card.... you think that PSU will be good enough? is there any cheaper ones i could get? also i was just going to go with water cooling my system.. until i came across this site.... so i already had water blocks for my cpu, video, and chipset... my question is since im going to be cooling the pelts now should i also watercool the chipset? or is the water going to heat up the chipset? im going to be using the black ice extreme radiator with 300gph... any suggestion? thanks everyone |
Get a dedicated 12V supply for your TECs - it'll work out cheaper than an ATX.
CPU - 172W or higher. GPU - 80W or higher. I'd skip the chipset - you'll want the water flowing as fast as possible with the sort of heat two TECs dump in the loop. |
where can i get a PSU from?? can anyone suggest one to me?.. i was thinking about getting the 236 or 226W pelt for the cpu...

The reason not to go above the V(max) voltage is because the resistive heat generated starts to become more of a burden than the extra cooling you get from the extra power. There is a curve where the maximum power is moved and it drops off on both sides. Most TEC companies seem to recommend about 80% of V(max) for maximum power moved. Max power moved at at or just above Vmax, most TEC companies recommend 75-85% due to much greater efficiency at these voltages. In many cases you get a colder coldside at 80% than 100% due to less load on the cooling system.

With graphics cards and cpus getting very power hungry, I'd really recommend a separate PSU for a TEC.

80% of Vmax gives roughly 80% power. So for a typical Vmax = 15.4V TEC, you'd want 12.3V.
