Tryin to figure this out
Well i have my RBX block installed in my system now temps are 35 C idle and 37 C load. I think these temps are kinda high from other ppls reviews. My current setup is MCP600, Thermochill 120.3, DD Maze4 GPU, DD RBX. Heres how everything goes
Res > Pump > GPU > CPU > Rad Now i'm thinking it could be 2 things that are causing these temps 1) I had to really bend the Tygon on the output of the RBX moving it slightly off the cpu and thus the computer not starting due to cooler to cpu contact, I ended up not using the springs and just tightening the block down to the cpu until it wouldn't tighten anymore 2)GPU is overclocked from 380 to 480 and it comes before the CPU block 3)CPU block is tarnished but not badly What do you guys think? 1, 2, 3 or all of the above? |
How warm is the room?
What kind of processor? Which RBX nozzle? Overclocked? Overvolted? Need more info dude. I had trouble mounting my RBX on an Athlon XP2400, I had to use a shim. After adding a shim my temps dropped approx 6-10C. |
What do you expect from a plain watercooling system?
You have warm water flowing over a hot cpu! I wish people would wake up and understand that watercooling sucks unless you augment it with peltier cooling. The two together are great! |
"How warm is the room?" - perhaps you need to remove the roof and windows to your room in order to keep it cool?
Or.. Add a peltier to complete your water system! :-) |

pft. pelts suck if you are constantly swapping out cpus/cpu blocks. my RBX keeps my 2800XP at room temp even when overclocked to 2700~mhz. you just need a decent setup.
Pump - Rad - CPU - anything else. never have tight curves in the tube, always use the most powerfull pump you can get. I wont use anything less than 1200l/h with a RBX, regardless of nozzle. personal note, keep the units of mesure the same in a thread, i never go to the hassle of converting F to C' and back again. |
My system is pretty close to yours configuration wise. Those temps are not really that bad. Mine are lower, but just by a few degrees. If you are using the MB sensors, who really knows what the temp is anyway? You're in the ballpark, thats the best accuracy you could expect.
Have you tried reseating the block? A shim really helps with the RBX on an XP, I tried it both ways and it made a big difference. You can play with the different nozzles... I didnt buy them, the default one was good enough. I have Danner Mag3 RBX nozzle 1 Maze4 GPU 89 Camaro core with 2 172mm Papst fans push/pull XP2400 stock speed Radeon 9700pro 351/351 There are so many variables its tough to say without actually seeing your system how it could be improved, if at all. |
"pft. pelts suck if you are constantly swapping out cpus/cpu blocks" - If you use a peltier then you don't need to be swapping blocks constantly. Your temp will be zero celsius or below and so swapping the block is a waste of time.
Unless of course you're reviewing blocks? (But most users aren't reviewers now are they?) No problem at all. |
