where to locally get supplies, copper, barbs, etc?
 

Anyplace local to get this stuff? Like any big chain store that might carry this?

I need some copper stock, of varying sizes from 1/4" to 1/2"

I need some thing copper sheet, and some acrylic or lexan for a res; Which clear plastic would work better?

I need some 1/2" and 5/8" barbs. I think these are at lowes and homedepot, but I can't remember.

If I can't fidn this stuff, I'll order it online, but shipping will kill me.

If your in the USA look in the phone book under metals. You can get the acrylic and copper sheets at Home Depot. Every Home Depot and Lows I been to only carries 3/8" barbs. I got a place locally called The House of Hose that has brass 1/2" barbs for $.50 each. 5/8" barbs moves up in thread size and cost. In the end though even after shipping it is usually 30% cheaper than buying local unless you got a whole sale account with these places.

Well, I was just wondering, because shipping was going to be about $20 for $40 worth of copper from onlinemetals, thought maybe I could do better locally.

For hose barbs, I've had better luck with Ace Hardware (a popular hardware chain; I'm located in Minnesota, USA) than I have had with Home Depot. HD has a few, but they really lack the useful size combos. Ace wasn't a ton better, but the selection seemed a bit mroe logical and diverse. I ended up buying a bunch of clear poly 1/2" hose to 1/4" NPT barbs from www.CoolTechnica.com for a reasonable price.

I've been casually looking for good "local" sources of copper stock and sheet, but I have yet to find anything good. Onlinemetals seems to be the easiest way to do it, but you obviously pay out the nose for shipping. :(
