would a turbulator work?
Hi
After stumbling across these goodies: http://www.haydenind.com/design.htm I got the idea to create my own "turbolator" and place it in somewhere in my system. The generel idea would be that if the turbolance created realy increases performance, both heads and rads would benefit.. What do you guyz think? (sorry for bad spelling.. i'm Danish) |
I may be mistaken but I think all the tubing on the page is for heat exchangers(similar to a radiator). There not for adding in line to a system to improve performance.

I know, but if it works on a their rad, I was hoping it would also work on mine.. and since turbolence is know to work with waterblocks as well.. (RBX) then perhaps it would do some good her as well..
And to clarify, i would try to make a "turbolator" my self :-) |
Erm,
Water blocks ARE turbulators. That's what all the fins and so on are all about, increasing turbulence. A radiator could benefit, but you would most likely have to make a radiator from scratch. 8-ball |

I know, but i am currently using an Maze-4, and just thought a bit more turbolence would help. My Rad is a copper heatercore from a Nissan and is 16mm and offers almost no resistance and i hoped a "turbolator" would do good here too.. But if you think it's a waste of time, i'll leave it be i guess.. BTW: love the thread about flow :-) |
I don't think it's a waste of time, but in the case of the radiator, the turbulators need to be IN the channels of the rad. This isn't easy without completely taking the rad apart.
Equally, I think turbulators would more than likely make the Maze 4 VERY restrictive. I'm not saying it wouldn't work. 8-ball |
Ahh my mistake!
My idea was to place a "turbolator" in front of the rad. to create turbolence thrugh it, but that is not what is done in the haydens. I see where i went wrong.. The Maze4 is very restictive, and you're right it might do more harm then good.. i'll think it over a few more times.. |
