120V Pumps and UPS (Battery Backup)
I have an Iwaki MD-15 and MD-30.. I will be installing an APC SUA1500 Smart UPS. Is it a bad idea to have the pump on this unit? It will apparently produce a pure sine wave, but I recall UPS's and pumps not playing nicely. Any insight is appreciated!

let me put it this way...if your power goes out, and the pump isnt attached to the UPS, the computer is being powered, but whats powering the pump?

Been running an Eheim 1250 on the UPS with no problems.
I do not see a problem with pure sine wave UPS and the size of pumps you are using. Actually, do a search on Aquarium in APC's website. THey have quite a few story I remeber reading about APC UPS saving Aquarium & pets live during blackouts. Best regards frenchnew Quote:

The problem is that the UPS may not be designed to handle an inductive load, such as one from a motor. You'll have to check the specs on the unit.
