Found a large radiator (pics)
 

I was at my Grandpa's house and found an old "transmission cooler" as he called it. I'm thinking I might use this in my next watercooling system, but I want to know if it will even be worth it. As you can see from the pics the inlet is only 5/16" but the actually channels look to be about 1/2". The tubes are actual copper, even though they appear to be painted over. The dimensions are about 10x15x1" and that's just the fin area.

If I were to use this I would probably mount it on the bottom of my case and cut two holes in the bottom of the case to fit 2 120mm fans.

In order to keep the fan assembly small, you might consider using a tangential blower or two: you might be able to fit the whole thing inside a PC case.

I'm using a Lian Li PC-30, so it's a pretty small case. I like to keep it small, but have no problems with mounting the rad outside of the case. I don't believe I could fit this rad inside the case.


Oh another thing. It is single pass, so would I get better results if I were to cut the channel somewhere and split it in two, splitting the tubing with a Y connector on either side?

Yeah, if you could cut it cleanly in half, then stack the two sections, you'd do better with the flow rate: at 5/16" id, it's going to be awfully restrictive.

Go passive: mount it on a case's side panel with no fans.
