Only if you have a mill?

What kind of designs could you potentially make with just a dremel, drill press, and other standard tools. Droping anything more then $100 on tools seems highly unlikely at the moment.

About any design if you are willing to put inn the man hours and planning etc into it.

Don't really need a CNC machine, but it makes life a lot easier, and cuts down construction time ten times... at least :)

that and the designs turn out about a thousand times better. Currently I am trying to see if its possible to make a block with mainly just my table saw but we will see.

Read the front page about my Lumpy Channel Block. You can do most of it with a drill press and dremel. Actually you don't need a dremel. You can connect the holes with a 1/16" endmill in the drill press theoretically.

the lumpy channel block can be done with drill bits alone. that is if you can figure something out for the ends;)

ok, heres what ya do, you drill all the connectors first, that means drill 1/16" holes where it would be connecting the 1/8" hole, if you do it correctly you can drill the 1/8" hole right between 2 1/16" holes and call it good;)

ok this is the waterblock I have been wanting to make myself once I get access to a drill press. The only thing I am not sure if you can do with the drill press is the channel for the o-ring. Would it be possible to use a small dremel router setup with a 1/8 bit to cut a channel 2/32 deep in polycarbonate for the o-ring to sit instead of trying to machine it on the block?

JFettig 06-19-2004 08:18 PM

2/32" eh;)

anyway, its really difficult to make an O-ring groove that works without proper equiptment, I would suggest marine goop.

Gaskets work well.

Nightingale 06-19-2004 08:43 PM

yeah I was thinking of a small premade gasket myself. To bad my grandpa had to get rid of that CNC router or else I could have had him machine the plastic to my hearts content. He had to sell it he said to reclaim his garage.
