TEC Emergency!
 

I installed my 226W tec yesterday, and I was netting around 11C idle and 16C load. This moring I turned on my computer and now I'm getting 27C idle and 30C load. The water in the tubing is also warm to the touch. Ambient temperature is 23C.

I think that my mobo might be reading the temps wrong, because I restarted and on several occasions the temps went from 28C to 12C after restart.

Where are the temperatures read from? I'm using a NF7-S v2.0 and Tbred B

When you let it all rest and the water gets back to ambient, then plug it in and first thing go into bios.... what's the temp there? (Assuming this is where your'e reading the temp) Otherwise the probe temp on initial startup.

Chances are that you could have a waterloop that's not strong enough to handle the tec. Feel the radiator/hc, is it hot? I know my loop with fans at 5v isn't strong enough for mine, temps start at 1c on my probe and eventually rise up to 11-12 by the end of the day. Put the fans on 12v and it'll top at 7c.

Need some more info. Where are you measuring temps from? Onboard thermisitor? Hotside vs coldside and water temps would be helpful. What's the general setup like (pump, rad, block, etc)?

Could something have changed overnight? If your tubing's not supported properly (is exerting torque on the block), it might have messed up the mounting. Does a remount fix the problem?

I don't know the layout of that motherboard, but if it's using one of those probes that touches the back of the cpu rather than the on-die thermisitor, you can expect it to be pretty inaccurate with no airflow through the socket.

There is no torque on the block. I'm measuring the temp from the Bios of the NF7-S v2. NOthing has changed overnight. The heatercore is hot to the touch, I estimate that my water temp is around 50C. I tried powering the peltier (and pump/fans) for 10 mins and then turning the cpu on and the cpu was at 1C. I think that i have a few problems

1) Radiator can't handle the heat generated
2) Peltier might be messed, it doesnt get cold (even with no load)

How are u estimating your water temps? Maybe, you should consider making
ac unit/ water chiller. ;)

Is your TEC PSU overheating? Meanwells dont pump out enough current when they hit 60 degrees. Which means your CPU temps will rocket.

Your tubing would be warm anyway since a CPU + a TEC creates a lot more heat than a CPU alone. Maybe your flow is too low, or your rad isnt taking enough heat out of the loop.

hey i also have a nf7s v2 and i get the same strange temps not too sure why. I have a 226w pelt cooled by 2 chevette heater cores and i get like 27c load temps and my idle is like 16c but im running a barton 2500+@2.5 1.9v so i think that those temps are pretty normal or my system is way messed up.
