Asus K8V Mobo
does anyone know if this mobo supports dual channel ddr?
im looking to build a system, and this is one mobo i looked at. i have heard something about no a64 mobos except for 939 pin ones have dc ram. however this one has colored slots for ram... one is blue and two are yellow. unlike other dc setups, they are all equidistant. no big gap inbetween them. it never says dual channel, but then again it never says it doesnt. btw sorry if i put this in the wrong forum, but it doesnt really fit into many others. here's a link http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...131-491&depa=0 |
There are no 754 socket CPUs which support dual channel. The memory controller for the A64 series is on die, part of the CPU.

darn that stinks, but does it really matter that much... 64 bit is probably gonna negate any difference that a bit of memory would make right? well i wasnt gonna invest in super fast dc optimized mem anyway. probably just some corsair valueram
edit: wait can any mobo's override that memory controller with their own? |
In theory, yes, a chipset could have it own memory controller of whatever type. But there aren't any such chipsets -- all the current ones rely on the on-CPU memory controller.

the actual speed difference between the A64 and the FX series is pretty small. Dual Channel is NICE but its by no means the most important part.
