Yeah, if anything touches the powder before baking, the finish will have holes or bumps. The easiest thing to do is to hang the part from one of the oven's racks, but creativity can be rewarded. I don't know if you can coat and cook the part in a couple of passes or if the second baking would ruin the first powder.
