prescott 3.0 on ic7-max3

Hi all,

I have a strange problem!I just got me a prescott 3.0 (was looking for the 3.2, but they where out), and I lapped the CPU like I do with all.

I was maybe to confident, that the damm thing would work, as I know you kill your warrenty with lapping. (but it saves you a degree or so)

I have a killer watercooling systen, white water, 3 radiators etc. with my 2.8 northwood, I had no problems running it at 3.5 Ghz, at nice 35 degrees (full load for 2 hrs)

I updated the bios, so it would support prescott, put the cpu it, placed my whitewater on top with some AS5, and the damm thing is hitting 46 degrees! (idle) I heard they are hotter, but this much?

Well, Normally I would not worry about it, but the damm thing won't even boot into windows. (on clock speed, and even on bus speed of 100 mhz)
Max voltage I tried was 4 steps up.

I remounded the thing 3 times, and then put mu old 2.8 in. All 3 times not even windows, and with my 2.8 directly without problems.

Is there a problem with the IC7-Max3 and prescott? What else could be wrong?

Or do I just have bad luch and bought a broken CPU. (damm I should have tested it first)

Frank
