I redid the connection on the M1A at 12 volts (it's not that noisy either - less than the five 80mm Sunons I installed in the case months back that use 7 volts) and the reported temperature (using the on-board socket thermistor) dropped by 1 degree celcius, so I guess that's not really conclusive. I'm going to get a couple of Compunurse probes, so I can get a more accurate idea of CPU temp, and actually measure water temp.

I guess I just got a stubborn chip. Right now it's running sweet at 7x 136 for 952Mhz. If I increase the FSB by 2Mhz, taking me to 966Mhz, it refuses to even post. If I go back to 100Mhz FSB, at 9.5x it runs fine; at 10x it refuses to post. For that matter, 9.5x 101Mhz is also a no-boot situation.
More voltage might help, although MBM and BIOS both report the setting of 1.85v to be 1.94v.
