Hey Perkster!
I've OC'd five Athlon Slot-A processors using the soldering method and my experience clearly tells me as UnaClocker mentioned that you have to change the cache divider to a lower value, in your case 1/3.
0.25um processors:
- 500 core : 500 -> 700 @ 1/2 (3.6ns cache 277 MHz made it to 350 MHz)
- 600 core : 500 -> 750 @ 2/5 (4ns cache 250 MHz at 300 MHz, it made it to 320 MHz at 2/5 but the CPU didn't do 800 well)
- 600 core : 500 -> 750 @ 1/3 (4ns cache hit the spec
)
The first 500 core @ 700 cpu is actually the fastest all around because of the faster L2 cache unless the computations are not dependendent upon L2 cache speed.
0.18um
- 750 core : 750 -> 950 @ 1/3 (3.3ns cache @ 318, couldn't handle 380 with 2/5)
- 850 core : 850 -> 1000 @ 1/3 (3.3ns cache on spec, couldn't handle 400 MHz with 2/5)
