Well, my 1700+ in my A7N8X-X system died recently, which is frustrating.
Basic specs -
1700+
A7N8X-X
1024 Geil ram
sblive
Gf4 440mx
Watercooled, custom block, eheim 1048 equiv, heatercore w/120 etc
Onboard temps (reads low) was about 32 under load with a 23ish water temp. Never really got too hot...
CPU @ 2.0ghz with 1.8vcore (reads 1.825 in bios)
Basic death - playing freelancer, hit a pretty intensive part of the game
SBlive started crackling, checked the motherboard... may have knocked my ghetto 80mm nb fan. Long story short, the pc's power cut, and the cpu was dead. Tried it in my NF7-S, didnt work; 2500+ did, so obviously its the cpu.
A - could my block have killed it? it was on with quite a bit of mounting pressure (probably 30 pounds rather than 20...) but it wasnt overheating at all...
B - Not really sure if i want to risk my 2500+ in the board to see if its working still. Looking for a cheap XP chip, ill probably try that... how safe would it be to put my 2500+ in?
C - Main reason for asking the Q here - is it possible my block could have contributed to the death of the cpu? theres no way in hell im sending a block to pH if this is the case; im pretty sure it shouldnt be (base plate thickness is still about 2mm, and the block isnt badly uneven...)

still mourning the cpu, hard to get hold of second hand XP's here at a decent price...
