As for the heatercore, that should not be fourty pounds! It should be more like ten to fifteen pounds, if costs for car parts are anywhere similar to US costs. I can buy a heatercore for $25 in the US. Is it that much more expensive in the UK to buy car parts plus some epoxy to add brass barbed fittings?
BTW, I am not very familiar with UK suppliers, so please forgive any ignorance. The only UK supplier I know of is Pug, and I've never actually perused his price lists.

Not the case in the uk im afrade. There are only a few heatercores avalible that eaven come close to what we need (copper/brass designs etc.) The only chance we have of getting anything to match a chevette or caprice core is to import them from the US (hench the £40 price tag)
The only copper/brass cores that i have found in the uk are those In the vauxhall astra, nova and corsa. They are the same basic design as an american core but the tubes exit in the wrong place and they are quite a bit bigger and harder to fit into your case without alot of modding and lost drive bays. You can forget buying a new heatercore over here tho as its cheaper to import the correct ones from the US.
This is the kind of thing we have to put up with in England all the time
flatline- why dont you get a dangerden 12v pump? the money you save from not having to buy a relay will make up the differance and a dd12v will give you a huge increce in performance.
slater..
