The 1060 (not 1260) is actually a very large pump, but its main advantage is that it has a 10 ft head (max pressure), putting it more inline with the other premium pumps that are now available. Otherwise, Eheim has a good reputation for durability. (see eheim.com for more info). The 1250 has a max head that's a bit low (IMO) to run a loop with two cores. You might want to check out what other people here use for a pump. Pressure is everything. The DD pump has a 10 ft head already.

Cores ought to be in series, usually. As Bill tested, they work best with an actual flow around 1 to 1.5 gpm, so knowing your actual flow rate can come in handy here.
