a quick paint drawing might help
So the middle cone in this drawing is the slope, its centered in the middle of the jet(guess the jet it not needed in this design?), right above the core. My idea is that the slope would help water to travel at high speed across the copper, nere the core where it counts. The fins/slits should of course still be there.
