Actually, the heater core and fans are contained inside of their own 100% sealed acrylic box (a box within the main box). It has a false 'floor' which allows me to hide most of the wiring (and route the tubing) underneath it.
The white strip you see is pliable window weatherstripping which completes the seal between the top of the rad and the acrylic box cover. There is also a strip of it on the bottom of the rad. Nothing is perfect, but I can comfortably say that close to 100% of the airflow goes through the rad.
