It wont hurt the pump to run hot. The heat it puts into the loop is best cooled by the radiator. Cutting open the pump will void the warranty and will probably let lots of crap in there that will eventually destroy it. Iwaki did a good job designing the pump, so dont mess with it.

since when do we leave things stock!?!?!? But i would have to agree, especially since the pump is not cheap.
