I don't think that is the right thing to be saying to people running these pumps now though.
If you are using something with a known problem wouldn't it be better to make sure it is fine than wait until it breaks inside $1k or whatever of equipment?
So in short, to continue your use of 1 line sayings: better safe than sorry
